If you have an elderly loved one who has chosen to age in place, you as the caregiver may be wondering how to facilitate communication between the two of you. Being able to get in touch with an elderly person--and that elderly person being able to call relatives or emergency responders in case of an accident--is an important part of helping a senior maintain independence.

At the same time, today's technology can be a bit confusing for seniors. For example, many seniors do not want to deal with having to relearn how to use a phone every time a new iteration is released. Fortunately, Jitterbug has developed a line of phones created with emphasis on simplicity and ease of use. The Jitterbug Flip phone is the company's latest offering and goes far in meeting the needs of seniors in a variety of living situations.

Improvements to the Jitterbug Flip

The Jitterbug Flip adds new features that enable seniors to more easily use the phone. Among other things, it has a larger screen, making it easier for seniors who may struggle to read the text displayed on the screen.

The display is now paired with a keypad that is backlit so seniors may more easily find the buttons they seek. Coupled with oversized buttons on the keypad, this means that seniors who may struggle with other phones are able to use the Jitterbug Flip.

The Jitterbug Flip also differs from traditional cell phones in the power of its built-in speaker. Keeping in mind that many seniors struggle to hear, the designers included a speaker capable of playing conversations more loudly than other phones. Distortion of sounds and voices when played at a high volume does not appear to be an issue with the Jitterbug Flip.

The Jitterbug Flip menu is simple with simple yes and no buttons that make navigation simple and intuitive. Instead of a complicated menu with multiple choices, an elderly loved one can move through the decision tree on the menu by selecting yes or no, thus simplifying the navigation.

The Jitterbug Flip includes a special dedicated 5Star emergency safety button. Users who subscribe to the appropriate service package can contact a 5Star agent who will help them get whatever emergency assistance is necessary in a given situation. To activate the call to the 5Star agent, users simply press the 5Star emergency button and the phone automatically does the rest.

Should the Jitterbug Flip be suggested for elderly loved ones?

Seniors are presented with no shortage of services to preserve their ability to age in place. Is the Jitterbug Flip worth it or is it just another service designed to part your elderly loved one from his or her money?

Consumer reviews of the Jitterbug Flipare positive. Jitterbug seems to have a strong reputation for making its customers happy and offering a service that is actually worth the price.

The Consumer Affairs page for the Jitterbug Flip shows a customer satisfaction rating of 4.5 out of 5 possible stars after more than 300 reviews.

Of course, only you know your elderly loved one's situation, and only you can help make the choice that is best for him or her. so it is worth your time to research the Jitterbug Flip. If you researching and compare it to other cell phonesyou may agree that the Jitterbug Flip is a solid product to help your elderly loved one age in place safely and comfortably.
